Effective Date: April 1, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
The core purpose of TimTim Browser is to summarize web content you view within the App and estimate the time and potential monetary value you save through these summaries. Access to the summarization feature requires a subscription.
We aim to minimize data collection. We do not require you to provide directly identifying personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the core browser functions. However, we collect or process the following types of information:
Web Page Content and URL: To provide the core summarization feature (available to subscribers), the App needs to process the content and the URL (web address) of the web page you are currently viewing within the TimTim Browser. This processing occurs on secure servers controlled by us or our trusted third-party service providers. This data is used solely for generating the summary for the specific page you requested. We do not store the original page content after processing. Summaries and URLs may be temporarily cached on our servers to improve performance and reduce resource usage, but are not linked to your subscription identifier in the cache.
We do not persistently store your detailed browsing history (the list of all websites you visit over time) linked to you on our servers. Standard browser functions like back/forward history operate locally on your device.
Subscription Status: To provide premium features, we need to manage your subscription status. This involves processing information provided by the platform app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and our subscription management provider (RevenueCat).
Anonymized User Identifier (UUID): When you subscribe, an anonymized identifier (such as an installation ID or a unique user ID generated by RevenueCat, referred to here as "UUID") is associated with your purchase status. This UUID allows us to verify your subscription across sessions or reinstalls without needing your name or email. This UUID and related non-identifying purchase data (e.g., subscription type, expiry date) are shared with RevenueCat to manage your subscription entitlement.
Payment Information: Payments are processed directly by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your credit card details or other sensitive payment information. Please refer to the privacy policies of Apple and Google for how they handle your payment data.
Time and Value Saved Estimates: The App calculates estimates of time saved per session and cumulatively, along with a potential monetary value based on settings you might configure. This calculated data is stored locally on your device and is not linked to your UUID on our servers.
Usage Data: We may automatically collect information about how you interact with the App itself (e.g., features used, buttons clicked, frequency of summarization, session duration) using analytics tools. This data is often associated with an anonymized identifier (like the UUID or a separate analytics ID) but not with your name or email.
Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device (device model, OS version, device identifiers where permitted, network information, IP address) for analytics, troubleshooting, security, and potentially to assist RevenueCat in identifying unique users/devices for subscription management.
Crash Reports: If the App crashes, we may collect diagnostic information (potentially including device state and anonymized usage data) to help us fix bugs.
Feedback/Contact: If you contact us directly via email, we will collect your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry.
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
We do not sell your browsing history or directly identifying personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
Subscription Management (RevenueCat): We share your UUID and relevant non-identifying purchase data (e.g., subscription type, start/end date, platform) with RevenueCat to manage your subscription entitlements across platforms and restores. RevenueCat acts as our agent for this purpose.
Cloud Processing Providers: We use secure cloud infrastructure providers for server-side summarization processing and caching. They process URL/content data transiently as described above.
Analytics Providers: We may use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Firebase Analytics) that collect Usage Data and Device Information associated with an anonymized identifier.
These providers only access information necessary for their functions and are obligated to protect it.
With Platform App Stores (Apple/Google): Subscription initiation, payments, and renewals are handled via the respective app stores. They process your payment information according to their privacy policies. They inform us (and RevenueCat) about purchase events, typically associated with an anonymized transaction ID or order ID, not your direct identity.
By Law or to Protect Rights: If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Work Gamification Inc., our users, or others.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition involving our company.
Aggregated/Anonymized Data: We may share data that has been aggregated or anonymized (so it cannot reasonably identify you) for research or analysis.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect the information we process and store. However, no system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security. Summarization data is processed transiently, and cached data is not linked to user identifiers. Subscription data security relies also on the measures taken by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law.
Depending on your location (e.g., Japan under APPI, EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have rights regarding your information.
The App relies on third-party services. Please review their policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect directly identifying personal information. While UUIDs and device information are collected, we do not knowingly target the service at children or collect data specifically from them. If we learn we have inadvertently collected information pertaining to a child under the relevant age, we will take steps to delete it.
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including Japan and potentially the locations of our service providers. These countries may have different data protection laws. We take steps to ensure that data transfers comply with applicable laws and that your information remains protected according to the standards described in this policy, using appropriate safeguards where required.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy. We may also provide notice through the App or other means if the changes are significant. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed of our practices.
